This pub was established in 1851 and lay on the Cobb & Co horsedrawn carriage route. Today the pub lies on one stage of the Tour Down Under bicycle race, and right near the beach. The beer garden, with its tin roof, is host to the Fleurieu Folk Festival, and the main bar sports a pool table, dartsboard, pinball as well as an enormous television with TAB Sky.
